MAVOLUX-Compact M502C - compact and inexpensive entry-level unit

The compact illuminance meter MAVOLUX COMPACT M502C is designed for reliable measurement of daylight and all artificial light sources including LEDs. In cooperation with leading cameramen and lighting technicians of German television stations, the measuring device was designed to meet their needs for one-hand operation, selectable measuring direction and display that can be read in the dark. These features naturally also benefit all users in industrial environments when planning and installing lighting systems, checking and monitoring them and ensuring compliance with prescribed lighting conditions.

Single-handed operation leaves room for simultaneous operation of communication devices or remote controls. The swivelling sensor can be adapted to individual working conditions and the display illumination in the HOLD function allows reading in the dark. The measuring device hangs securely around the neck on the carrying line and the supplied neoprene case guarantees protection during transport.

The measuring device is used for light setting in video and film productions as well as an operating measuring device for the planning and installation of lighting systems, their inspection and monitoring and for compliance with prescribed lighting conditions. The four measuring ranges, with automatic or manual range switching, cover a wide measuring range from 0.1 lx to 199900 lx with an accuracy of ± 3 % ± 1 digit. The deviation of the V(?) adjustment f1' < 7.5 % is significantly better than the error limit permissible according to the standards in class C.

The low-cost entry-level device is classified according to Class C according to DIN 5032-7, IEC 13032-1 Appendix B. The high-quality V(?) adjustment and cosine correction allow reliable measurement of daylight and all artificial light sources including LED.



GOSSEN attaches great importance to the safety of the knife teeth through calibration. As proof, a factory or DAkkS calibration certificate for measuring instrument monitoring according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 can optionally be issued by GOSSEN Lichtlabor. Depending on the operating conditions of the product, a calibration interval of 12 to 24 months is recommended. The following calibration certificates are available on request: factory certificate - H997B and DAkkS certificate - H997D

Further measuring range

High initial sensitivity and resolution of 0.1 lx or 0.01 fc up to high illuminance of 199900 lx or 19990 fc.
 

Precise readings

The accuracy is + 3 % + 1 digit of the reading value.
 

Calibration capability

Optionally the accredited GOSSEN Lichtlabor prepares a factory or DAkkS calibration certificate for the monitoring of measuring instruments according to DIN EN ISO 9001.
 

V(?) Adjustment

The spectral sensitivity of the silicon photodiode is color-corrected and corresponds to the spectral brightness perception of the human eye V(?).
 

Cosine correction

The brightness of a flat measuring surface is proportional to the cosine of the angle of incidence of light. This relationship is taken into account in the valuation by the recipient.
 

Permanent storage

100 measured values can be stored and recalled.
 

Comfortable everyday use

Simple one-hand operation, easy to read display with backlight in HOLD mode, swivelling measuring head and compact design.
